Ogun Gun Club - Who We Are
The story of O.G.C. from the founder -

"My name is Daniel Boykin, founder and President of Ogun Gun Club. My background in firearms stems from growing up in a strong firearms culture, in South Mississippi and Alabama. My father is an avid hunter whom taught me how to shoot and hunt at only the age of 9. I learned the basics of firearm safety and handling quite fast as a kid. By the age of 12 I was trusted enough by my father, to be allowed in the woods by myself with a firearm - which I did quite often for target practice and to hunt small game. Being that I grew up with a firearms molded lifestyle, I couldn't image life without guns and nor do I want to. As I got older, my love for firearms turned in an idea bigger than myself.
I formed the Ogun Gun Club in February of 2017, because for too long I have witnessed a major lack of firearms knowledge, ownership, and use within the urban community. Growing up, I would always get surprising responses from all of my classmates and friends when I would tell them I hunt. On the contrary, I felt it was strange that most people found it strange for a black American to hunt, or better yet use firearms regularly - while deeming it normal for a white American. This mere ignorance bothered me for years, before I got fed up, and decided to do something about it. So I gathered a small group of friends in my local area and began teaching them about firearms, firearm safety, and use from the knowledge that I was taught over the years from my dad, grandpa, uncles, and cousins. I even took them out in the woods and to local gun ranges to teach them the fundamentals of shooting etc. At first they were a little reluctant, especially when it came to shooting the shotgun, but surprisingly they all developed deep love for firearms. My friends loved what I had exposed them to, so much that a few of them bought an AR-15 and a hand gun two weeks later, and are now collecting guns, and going to the gun range regularly.

After the feeling of gratitude and happiness from knowing I had just changed the lives of a few individuals dissipated, I quickly realized that I had just made urban America an even safer place through education. These guys had been taught thorough firearm safety and use, in order to better protect themselves, family, and friends. They even brought their girlfriends to the next range days and I taught them the same. Through all of this, I understood exactly what I could do in order to make urban communities safer, along with changing the negative and ignorant perpetuation of the urban community and firearms. I came up with the idea to unify my community through a gun club, while teaching about guns and highlighting women especially as the main people in the urban community who should own guns for defense. Eventually I wrote my ideas and new life purpose down on paper and here we are today."
